POSITION OVERVIEW:
99 Ranch Market is hiring Bakery Team Members for our Store #55 location in Westwood. Available opportunities include Bakery Clerk, Baker, and Cake Decorator positions.

Selected candidates will initially complete training at our Store #808 location in Torrance while preparations are made for the reopening of the bakery at Store #55 in Westwood. Upon completion of training and the reopening of the Westwood bakery, employees will report to Store #55 as their primary work location.

Candidates must be willing and able to temporarily train at the Torrance location.

POSITIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bakery Clerk:
  • Assist with preparing raw materials according to recipes and the supervisor’s instructions.
  • Wrap and package bakery products accurately and efficiently based on customer requests.
  • Ensure products have proper signage and are displayed according to company standards.
  • Stock shelves, replenish products, and rotate products using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
  • Monitor expiration dates and remove expired or damaged products from displays.
  • Greet customers, answer questions, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Follow cash-handling procedures and complete the checkout process accurately and efficiently when assigned.

Baker:
  • Prepare bakery products according to approved recipes, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Measure, mix, form, cut, shape, proof, and bake dough and other bakery products.
  • Operate bakery equipment safely and according to established procedures.
  • Monitor baking times, temperatures, freshness, appearance, and product quality.
  • Maintain appropriate product levels and prepare additional products based on business needs.
  • Follow food-safety, sanitation, labeling, and product-rotation requirements.

Cake Decorator:
  • Prepare, frost, decorate, and finish cakes and other bakery products according to company standards.
  • Complete customer cake orders accurately and within the required timeframe.
  • Apply borders, flowers, designs, writing, and other decorative elements based on customer requests.
  • Maintain the quality, freshness, appearance, and presentation of decorated products.
  • Assist customers with cake selections, available designs, sizes, flavors, and special-order requests.
  • Properly store, label, rotate, and display finished products.
  • General Responsibilities.
  • Unload and break down deliveries and maintain an organized stockroom.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe working environment.
  • Follow all company policies, food-safety procedures, sanitation requirements, and applicable government regulations.
  • Properly handle expired, damaged, or recalled products according to the supervisor’s instructions.
  • Use ingredients and materials efficiently to minimize product waste.
  • Help safeguard department products, supplies, equipment, and other company assets.
  • Participate in product demonstrations and promotional activities when assigned.
  • Work cooperatively with supervisors and other team members to support department operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous bakery, baking, cake-decorating, food-preparation, retail, or customer-service experience is preferred.
  • Baker and Cake Decorator candidates should have relevant experience or knowledge related to the position.
  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established procedures.
  • Ability to provide friendly and professional customer service.
  • Good time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, based on department and training needs.

Willingness and ability to temporarily complete training at Store #808 in Torrance before transitioning to Store #55 in Westwood.

COMPENSATION:
The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $21.00 per hour. This range is a general guideline and does not guarantee compensation. Additional factors considered when extending an offer include, but are not limited to, the position’s responsibilities and the candidate’s education, skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
