Summary:
(Focus: Grill Cooking, Beef Roll Assembly, and General Kitchen Prep)
We are seeking a versatile and energetic Kitchen Assistant who can seamlessly transition between general food preparation and active line cooking. In this dual-role, you will be responsible for preparing fresh ingredients and managing the grill station to produce our signature Beef Rolls. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants hands-on experience in both prep and cooking.
Responsibilities:
- Grill Cooking & Assembly: Manage the grill station, specifically focusing on cooking and assembling Beef Rolls to exact company standards.
- Ingredient Preparation: Wash, peel, chop, and cut fresh vegetables, meats, and other ingredients required for the grill station and general kitchen use.
- Recipe & Portion Control: Accurately weigh and portion out ingredients to ensure consistent taste, quality, and precise portion sizes for every order.
- Food Quality & Presentation: Monitor the quality of ingredients and ensure every finished product is visually appealing and cooked to perfection.
- Kitchen Cleaning & Dishwashing: Keep the grill station, prep tables, floors, and utensils clean and sanitized throughout the shift. Assist with general dishwashing as needed.
- Food Safety & Sanitation: Strictly follow all health department regulations, ensuring proper food handling, storage, and temperature controls (especially at the hot station).
- Inventory & Waste Control: Assist with organizing stock, practicing proper stock rotation (FIFO), and actively minimizing food waste during both prep and cooking.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Prior experience in grill cooking and general food preparation is highly preferred. Note: Formal culinary school education or training may be accepted in lieu of professional kitchen experience.
- Mandatory Certification: A valid Food Preparation Certificate / Food Handler Certificate is strictly required prior to starting.
- Knife & Cooking Skills: Basic knife skills for daily prep, combined with foundational cooking skills and comfort working over a hot grill.
- Pace & Adaptability: Proven ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain high performance during busy rush hours.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for portion accuracy, order accuracy, and food presentation.
- Teamwork & Reliability: Excellent communication skills, consistent punctuality, and the ability to follow instructions closely from the head chefs.
- Food Quality & Consistency: Delivering perfectly cooked and assembled items from the grill every time.
- Cooking Speed & Efficiency: Meeting production timelines and order speeds without sacrificing quality.
- Preparation Accuracy: Cutting and portioning ingredients exactly to recipe specifications.
- Sanitation & Cleanliness: Maintaining a spotless and safe workspace, passing all internal and external health inspections.
- Waste Control: Keeping food waste to a minimum through careful prep and portioning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Physical Requirements:
- This job requires the ability to perform the following essential functions:
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- This job is performed in a production environment that may have exposure to heat, noise, and other environmental factors associated with food production.
