About the Role:
The Management Trainee (MT) Program is a structured, hands-on leadership development program designed for individuals who want to build a long-term career in retail and operations leadership. Through real operational experience, mentorship, and guided training, you'll gain exposure to multiple areas of the business while developing the skills needed to lead teams, support store operations, and drive results. You are not expected to know everything on day one — ongoing coaching and support are provided throughout the program.

What Training Looks Like:
- Introduction to company culture, values, and leadership expectations.
- Product, department, and business-area rotations throughout the program.
- Department-level skill development with readiness and progress assessments.
- On-the-job learning supported by coaching, feedback, and mentorship.
Responsibilities:
The trainee will undergo 5 to 8 months of training and evaluations. Qualified candidates will then be assigned to a store and take ownership of department operations, including:
- Managing daily department operations to meet company standards.
- Partnering with store management on promotions and sales targets.
- Maintaining product displays, freshness, and fully stocked shelves.
- Ordering products based on inventory levels, promotions, and delivery schedules.
- Receiving shipments and verifying quantity and quality.
- Controlling inventory movement using FIFO; organizing freezer and cooler storage and directing physical inventory counts.
- Building familiarity with local vendors and popular local products.
- Using label and price sign printing programs efficiently.
- Scheduling department employees and managing attendance.
- Coaching, training, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews.
- Maintaining a safe and clean workplace.
- Performing other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a related field.
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures and operate equipment.
- Ability to lift 25+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Flexible schedule required (nights, weekends, and holidays); willingness to relocate if necessary.
- Ability to travel between store locations for training purposes.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and training materials.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Comfortable calculating figures such as discounts, percentages, and inventory quantities.
- Familiarity with inventory management programs, Microsoft Office, IT retail, or SAP (highly preferred).
- Bilingual in English/Chinese or English/Spanish (highly preferred).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Shift Information:
- Full Time | 40 – 45 hours/week | 6 days/week.
- Weekends and holidays required.
- Overtime as needed.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $25.00/hour during training; promotion to exempt status upon passing final assessment.
